In 2026 Rugby Borough Council will be introducing a new weekly kerbside collection service for food waste, giving us the opportunity to make a step change in the quantity and quality of household recycling.
You will work with communities around the borough to explain and promote the new service and give feedback to our communications and waste teams, helping our residents to understand what can be recycled and how to recycle.
Your input will help our communications and waste teams finalise the food waste collection service and give it the best chance of success.
This is an 18 month Fixed Term Contract role.
About you
You’ll have a background in communications or community engagement working with residents and community groups from a variety of backgrounds, including hard to reach communities, with a friendly, engaging and helpful demeanour that allows you to quickly develop relationships.
You will need to be able to attend events around the borough of Rugby, sometimes at weekends or in the evening.

About the role
A vacancy has arisen within the Property Services Team for a Property Repairs Multi Trade – Carpenter / Plumber. Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate their skills along with knowledge and experience across a variety of building trades at a professional level.
The successful candidate will be able to work easily as a part of a team and using their own initiative when required. Being polite, courteous and presentable is essential to ensure the customer is delighted with the service provided.
You should be able to work to a very high standard and at an acceptable pace to ensure the customer receives the quality service they expect from our team. A strong focus on health and safety must always be maintained.

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of tenants and residents? We have an opportunity for a proactive and experienced Lead Officer (Housing Management & Coordination) to play a vital role in supporting tenancy sustainment, managing complex housing cases, and leading a dedicated housing management team.
This is a varied role which will see you representing the Council in legal proceedings related to tenancy enforcement and working closely with Housing Officers and Coordinators across both General Needs and Independent Living schemes. You’ll conduct in-depth tenancy reviews, provide expert advice and guidance, and ensure that legal and community-based solutions are effectively balanced.
We as a team drive for excellence in all our work and you will support this by leading and guiding the team through individual case supervision, final reviews of high-risk cases and by identifying and supporting the implementation of new practices and strategies, policies and procedures.
You’ll also play a key role in managing high-risk anti-social behaviour cases, coordinating multi-agency support, and ensuring our housing services remain responsive, resident-focused, and aligned with both local priorities and national legislation.
You’ll have extensive specialist knowledge around all aspects of Housing Management and Housing Coordination and experience and understanding of the legislation that underpins it. You must have the ability to work with others in a fair and assertive manner using your excellent communication skills, with a solution focused outlook.

As part of the Communities & Homes Service you’ll be responsible for the statutory independent reviews function in relation to the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) Part VII homelessness decisions, & Part VI housing allocations, ensuring that decisions are consistent with the Council’s statutory responsibilities & allocations scheme.
You’ll take a primary role in improving the quality of services provided to homeless individuals through consistent quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with local and national standards
The role includes developing and implementing compliance programs, conducting audits, and providing guidance to staff on improving the quality of government required data return and homeless decision making.
You’ll need comprehensive and expert knowledge of housing functions and related law and statutory guidance sufficient to handle legal challenges alongside a Professional Qualification of either Chartered Institute of Housing.
Demonstrable experience of s202 homeless reviews & part VI allocation reviews is needed as well as knowledge and application of the Housing Act 1996 Part VI and Part VII as amended.
Experience and ability to analyse performance management information and make recommendations for improvements and the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing are also key.

On Track is Rugby Borough Council’s social inclusion project which delivers services for young people in the Borough. Currently the project provides mentoring, alternative education programme, Planning and Preparation Assessment (PPA), Sports Leaders training, multi sports and recreational (Youth Club) opportunities for young people and pupils aged 8 upwards.
The post holder will be required to work both within schools and on community, based programmes during the year. Services to schools will focus on the delivery of mentoring support for pupils as well as sessions with smaller groups of pupils.
Youth Worker / Sports Leaders will be required to work on community-based programmes in youth clubs, parks and other open spaces delivering sports, outreach and detached work, as well as responding to support from our partners organisations in reducing ASB.
This is a part time, 20 hours a week 2-year Fixed Term contract.
As a Youth Worker / Sports Leader you to have a working record of experience coaching and be qualified to NGB Level 2 standard in at least one of the traditional sports or have a nationally recognised Youth Work qualification.
Applicants must be able to work during school hours (term time), during the day, evenings, and periods during school holidays. Flexibility exists within this. Your own transport would be beneficial but is not essential. This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure under the Disclosure and Barring system.
